Arosia's Smart Water ATM is a pay-per-litre water vending machine. It treats water with patented, chemical-free technology, checks every litre with sensors, and reports to an AI that keeps it running around the clock.
A water ATM (also called a water vending machine or water kiosk) is an automated, unattended machine that dispenses purified drinking water on payment. Users bring their own container, pay by UPI, a mobile wallet or a prepaid card, and collect water by the litre. Water ATMs have become one of India's most effective ways to deliver affordable, safe drinking water to dense cities and to rural communities.
Most water ATMs are simply an RO plant with a coin slot. Arosia built ours as an intelligent node. It uses patented chemical-free fluoride removal, IoT sensors at every stage and a cloud digital twin that learns how each site behaves.
How a smart water ATM works
01
Scan & pay
The user scans a QR code, taps an RFID card or uses the Arosia app, then chooses the volume.
02
Treat
The patented EC cell, nanofiltration and UV remove fluoride, arsenic, iron, microbes and microplastics.
03
Verify
Sensors confirm quality before dispensing, and every reading reaches the cloud.
04
Learn
AI forecasts demand, detects anomalies and schedules maintenance before a breakdown.
Features of the Arosia Smart Water ATM
Cashless pay-per-litre: UPI, wallet and RFID card payments, with user-level transaction mapping.
Targeted subsidies: free or discounted quotas can be given to eligible households, students or workers.
Non-RO purification: electrocoagulation plus nanofiltration keeps minerals in and limits wastage to about 2–4%.
Real-time IoT monitoring: water quality, flow, tank level, power and tamper status on one dashboard.
AI water management: predictive maintenance, anomaly alerts and demand forecasting across the fleet.
Home delivery: can orders through the Arosia app in selected localities.
Grid, hybrid or solar-powered: chosen to suit the site.
Impact reporting: transaction-verified litres, beneficiaries, plastic and CO₂ avoided, ready for ESG and CSR reports.
Water ATM vs bottled water vs conventional RO plant
Arosia installed its first water ATM in Kolkata. The network now serves more than 25,000 people at sites including Agartala (10 units), Salanpur, Konark, Khamar, Lansdowne and Ayodhya. We design, install, operate and maintain each kiosk, and back it with remote monitoring from Arosia Cloud.

Frequently asked questions
What is a water ATM machine?
A self-service kiosk that purifies water and dispenses it on payment, usually per litre. Arosia's smart water ATMs accept UPI, wallets and RFID cards, and IoT monitors them in real time.
How much does water cost at a water ATM?
Water ATMs typically sell water for a small fraction of what bottled water costs. The tariff is set with the site owner or local authority, and our platform supports targeted subsidies for eligible users.
Quality is measured before and after treatment, every reading is logged to the cloud, and AI flags anomalies and predicts maintenance before water quality is affected.
